Rejuvenation and resurfacing

Laser treatment of fine wrinkles

The most commonly used treatments to improve or attenuate the appearance of wrinkles consist of different infiltrative techniques. To treat classic expression lines, which are those that appear due to the repeated contraction of the muscles in the upper third of the facial region (wrinkles between the eyebrows, frontal area and orbicular area), the most commonly used treatment consists of the infiltration of botulinum toxin.

The infiltration of hyaluronic acid or calcium hydroxapatite is also useful for attenuating wrinkles that appear as a result of flaccidity, and they make it possible to replace volumes lost due to the deterioration of the skin’s elasticity and fat packets. Its use in areas such as nasolabial folds or marionette lines improves these wrinkles and harmonises the anatomical changes that accompany the passage of time.

If we focus on the improvement of fine wrinkles with laser and light devices, we should know that the combination of different techniques can be key to achieving good results. The indication of each device will depend on the characteristics of each patient, so each case must be individualised. In addition to attenuating small wrinkles, the aim is to improve the texture of the skin and the appearance of the pores. The effects of these devices may not be immediate, as it may take months before we notice their obvious effect.

The most commonly used devices to improve fine wrinkles are fractionated and non-fractionated lasers, ablative and non-ablative lasers, intense pulsed light and fractionated needle radiofrequency.
